UFC FN 89: Donald Cerrone is Loving The “Eat Whatever The Hell I Want Diet” in Advance of Patrick Cote Scrap
By FCF Staff
Donald Cerrone will compete in his second, welterweight bout in a row on Saturday night, and the lightweight contender’s clearly enjoying life as a 170’er.
In February, Cerrone fought Alex Oliveira in a welterweight contest and won the bout via first round submission. Leading up to the fight, the Jackson – Wink MMA fighter reported he felt great, not having to worry about cutting to 155.
Well, in advance of Cerrone’s bout with welterweight Patrick Cote at UFC FN 89, he had this to say (quote via UFC.com):
“I love bonus checks,” Cerrone said, while discussing the bout and Cote. “He’s a veteran and he’s a big guy – I’m not big at all. I’m like ‘78 right now. I love this ‘70-pound, eat whatever the hell I want diet that I’m on.”
“(But) I don’t know what I’m doing,” added Cerrone, when asked about his future plans, in terms of a weight class. “When they call me and say, ‘Hey, we need you back at ‘55,’ I’m going to say, ‘Okay.’”
Cote, who competed at middleweight for years, is coming off a stoppage win over Ben Saunders in January.
UFC FN 89 will take place in Ottawa, Ontario.
