UFC London: Tyron Woodley Points to Win Over Darren Till as Leon Edwards Fight Nears
By FCF Staff
Tyron Woodley is preparing to fight Leon Edwards in March, and he’s reminding people of what he did to the last, surging British welterweight he faced.
Edwards has been booked to fight the former champ on March 21st at UFC London. The Edwards has been scheduled for the high profile bout as a result of an eight-fight, winning streak.
When the match-up was announced initially, Edward was the betting lines favorite to defeat Woodley. While talking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani recently, however, Woodley cited his victory over Darren Till, while discussing his current, underdog status (quotes via LowKickMMA):
“It’s only so long ago, Darren Till, an up and coming fighter that everyone thought was so much bigger than me, so much more powerful,” Woodley said. “He was going to back me down, beat me up. You think about me being able to do that [beat him], it was very significant. The way that I beat him, how I did it.”
“I stuck true to myself,” he added. “I didn’t allow any second thought to affect me. My legacy is already going to greater when I walk away than it was when I was actually competing.”
Before Woodley submitted Till at UFC 228 in September, 2018, the latter had gone undefeated and was 5-0-1 in UFC action.
Woodley (19-4-1) has yet to fight since he lost the title to Kamaru Usman via decision in March, 2019.
