UFC on FOX 11: Hernani Perpetuo Replacing Santiago Ponzinibbio
By FCF Staff
Former Shooto champion Hernani Perpetuo will make his Octagon debut versus Jordan Mein at UFC on FOX 11, April 19th. The promotion has announced that the welterweight is replacing Santiago Ponzinibbio at the event, which will go down in Orlando, Florida. The specific reason for Ponzinibbio’s withdrawal was not announced.
Perpetuo (17-3) arrives in the UFC having won seven straight fights and is coming off a decision win over Tommy Depret last August. The Nova Uniao fighter is 9-1, with 1 no contest, in his last 10 scraps.
Mein (27-9) will be fighting for the first time since last April, when he was stopped by Matt Brown. The welterweight broke his orbital bone in the fight, and then a follow up knee injury sidelined Mein for the remainder of 2013. Prior to facing Brown, Mein TKO’d Dan Miller at UFC 158 last March. The Canadian Martial Arts Centre competitor is 8-2 in his last 10 contests.
UFC on FOX 11 will be hosted by the Amway Center and will feature Travis Browne fighting fellow heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum in the main event.
