UFC on FOX 15: Eddie Gordon Says KO Loss Was “Lesson Learned”
By FCF Staff
When Eddie Gordon steps into the Octagon this Saturday at UFC on FOX 15, the middleweight will be looking to put some further distance between himself and the vicious, knockout he incurred last December.
Gordon appeared to be on his way to victory at UFC 181, before Josh Samman flattened the TUF 19 winner with a brutal head kick in round two.
Recently Gordon (7-2) spoke to UFC.com about his fight this weekend with Chris Dempsey (10-2), as well as his last outing. Here is some of what the 31 year-old had to say about the loss to Samman, and the advice he received from his coach, Matt Serra.
“He (Serra) said ‘you were winning the fight, you were doing well, you got caught. That’s why we love this sport so much, because anything can happen at any minute,’” Gordon recalled. “It was a lesson learned. Credit to Josh. I never believe in saying somebody got lucky because he threw the kick and he executed. I didn’t execute the counter and the block, and the rest is history. But I’m just motivated to get back in there and erase that thought because it’s easy when everything is going great and you’re winning and knocking guys out, but real character is built when you see what you can do once you come back from a loss.”
UFC on FOX 15 will be hosted by the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
