UFC on FOX 16: Tom Lawlor Returning to Face Gian Villante
By FCF Staff
Tom Lawlor has his first fight booked in over two years, as the UFC has announced that the light-heavyweight will fight Gian Villante on July 25th. The bout will be part of UFC on FOX 16, which will be hosted by Chicago’s United Center.
Lawlor (9-5) hasn’t fought now since April, 2013, when he tapped out Michael Kuiper with a second round, guillotine choke. Prior to that the charismatic fighter lost via split decision to Francis Carmnont.
Villante (13-5) is coming off a memorable and late stoppage win over Corey Anderson at UFC on FOX 15 earlier this month. The light-heavyweight was coming off a split decision win over Sean O’Connell heading into the bout.
UFC on FOX 16 will be headlined by a bantamweight bout between champion TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao.
