UFC on FOX 17: Nate Diaz Plans to Get “The Ball Rolling”, Make Run at 155
By FCF Staff
Although Nate Diaz has lost three of his last four bouts, and is coming off a clear cut loss to lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos, the rugged fighter is confident he can make a run in the coming months.
Diaz is scheduled to fight Michael Johnson this Saturday at UFC on FOX 17, in what will be his first bout since last December, when he was decisioned by RDA. Recently Diaz spoke to UFC.com, and the dangerous finisher had this to say about his future:
“My last fight was against Rafael dos Anjos and I lost on a decision,” Diaz said. “I think I can beat that guy and I can’t just sit back and watch these guys fighting in front of me. I think I’m better than all of these guys, so I figured it was time to get the ball rolling if I’m going to get the ball rolling again.”
“I believe I’m the best fighter in the world, but I like to fight guys who are going to fight me back, and that’s what I like about Michael Johnson,” Diaz added later in the article. “He hits hard and throws good punches. I’ve been stagnant for the past three years and that’s when he’s made his move. It’s time for me to get working and I’m coming to fight.”
Johnson, meanwhile, will be fighting for the first time since August when he lost via split decision to Beneil Dariush.
UFC on FOX 17 will take place on Orlando, Florida.
