UFC on FOX 26: Glover Teixeira Believes Title Shot Should Come With Victory Tonight
By FCF Staff
Although Glover Teixeira is coming off a loss to Alexander Gustafsson, the light-heavyweight believes he could secure a title shot at UFC on FOX 26 tonight.
Teixeira is booked to take on Misha Cirkunov at the event, which will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As of today, Teixeira is ranked #3 in the division, while Volkan Oezdemir is ranked #2, and Gustafsson is #1. Oezdemir is booked to fight the champion Daniel Cormier on January 20th.
Recently Teixeira spoke with Bloody Elbow, and whiled discussing what’s on the line tonight, the dangerous fighter said this:
“As of right now, Gustafsson is injured,” Teixeira said. “He had shoulder surgery. I think I am next in line after DC and Volkan. Unless they are gonna wait for Gustafsson, but who knows when he is gonna come back. I believe that Gustafsson is ahead of me — he beat me last fight — but he’s injured. So I have to be the next guy.”
Cirkunov, meanwhile, is coming off a KO loss to the aforementioned Oezdemir.
