UFC on FX 5: Antonio Silva Stops Injured Travis Browne
By FCF Staff
Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva not only recorded his first Octagon win tonight in Minneapolis, but the vet became the first man to hand rising heavyweight Travis Browne a loss in the process.
A light footed Browne attempted to stay on the outside of Silva throughout the opening moments of the fight, but not long after Silva closed the distance, it became apparent that’the 6’7 tall heavyweight was having issues with his leg.
Appearing to sense the opportunity, Silva swarmed in for the finish, and put Browne away with a series of punches. After the card the official UFC twitter account reported that Browne had injured his hamstring during the fight.
The event did not see Jeremy Stephens fight Yves Edwards as scheduled, due to the fact Stephens was arrested earlier Friday for a reported outstanding warrant. UFC President Dana White relayed earlier in the day that the bout was still a go, however, evidently Stephens was not cleared for the bout.
Here are the official results from tonight’s UFC on FX 5 card, which was hosted by the Target Center in Minneapolis.
