UFC President Dana White Says Promotion Sending Dan Hardy to “Best Heart Doctor in the Country”

Hardy

With Dan Hardy having been pulled from UFC on FOX 7, due to a recent diagnosis that suspects the fighter has a heart irregularity called Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, the UFC plans to send the vet to an expert for a second opinion.

While speaking during a media call today to promote the upcoming, April 20th event, White relayed the following when asked to provide an update on Hardy.

“Lorenzo (Fertitta) and I called him last week, and he’s got some personal stuff going on right now with his family, but we’re going to send him out to literally the best heart doctor in the country, out in Los Angeles, when he’s ready to go,” White said. “We’re going to get a second opinion and get him checked out.”

Hardy (25-10) has reportedly been advised by a physician to undergo surgery for the condition, however, the British fighter has said he does not want to because he’s felt no symptoms. Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome can lead to an irregular and rapid heartbeat.

The California State Athletic Commission, which will oversee the UFC on FOX 7 show, recently informed MMA Junkie that the UFC did not submit Hardy’s most recent EKG test. The CSAC also relayed that it was the promotion that pulled Hardy from the card by citing an injury.

Hardy had been scheduled to fight Matt Brown; however, Jordan Mein has been brought in to face the welterweight.

The 30 year-old Hardy is coming off back-to-back wins over Amir Sadollah and Duane Ludwig, after dropping four straight bouts.
