Cub Swanson already held a coveted, top five position in the UFC’s featherweight rankings, and after his win over Jeremy Stephens Saturday, the vet has moved up even further.
According to a new report from the UFC, as a result of his decision win at UFC FN 44, Swanson now holds the #2 ranking. Swanson was #4 prior to the June 28th card.
Frankie Edgar and Ricardo Lamas, who were ranked #2 and #3 respectively, have moved down a position each. Lamas decisioned Hacran Dias at UFC FN 44 as well.
Chad Mendes, who will challenge champion Jose Aldo on August 2nd, still holds the #1 contender spot.
Although Stephens fell by decision to Swanson, the former lightweight has moved one slot into the #10 spot, and Dennis Berumudez has dropped to #11.
The UFC rankings are determined by a panel of media members and are voted on after each event.
