UFC Rankings Update: Lawler a Big Mover After UFC 167 Win
By FCF Staff
Robbie Lawler continues to have a big comeback year, as the punishing slugger has catapulted up the welterweight ranks as a result of his split decision win over Rory MacDonald at UFC 167.
Lawler was ranked #10 heading into the November 16th event, but as a result of his victory over his fellow contender MacDonald, he’s moved into the #3 spot. MacDonald, on the other hand, has dropped to #4.
The victory was Lawler’s third in a row, as since returning to the UFC and 170 pounds, he’s also scored wins over Josh Koscheck and Bobby Voelker.
Jake Ellenberger also dropped a ranking and now sits at #5, while Martin Kampmann fell three spots to #9.
In the light-heavyweight division, Rashad Evans moved up from #4 to #3, as a result of his stoppage win over Chael Sonnen at UFC 167. The latter fell from #6 and now sits at #7.
Another big winner at UFC 167 was flyweight Ali Bagautinov, who thanks to his unanimous decision win over contender Tim Elliot, has moved into the top ten and sits at #8. Elliot, on the other hand, fell two spots and is ranked #9.
The UFC rankings are determined by a panel of media members. UFC 167 was hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
