UFC Releases Yoel Romero

Yoel Romero’s near eight-year long run with the Ultimate Fighting Championship has come to an end, as it’s being reported the promotion has released the longtime contender.
The 43-year-old Romero reportedly had three fights left on his current UFC deal. But, recently his manager Malki Kawa, confirmed to ESPN the fighter and the UFC have parted ways.
“While we didn’t expect Romero’s time in the UFC to end like this,” Kawa said, “we are grateful for the opportunities [UFC president] Dana White, [general counsel] Hunter Campbell and [matchmaker] Mick Maynard gave him over the years. He’s ready to move on now and resume his career, and we are already talking to other promotions as we speak.”
The decorated wrestler is coming off a decision loss to middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, in March. The defeat was Romero’s third straight and dropped his record to 13-5.
