UFC’s Dana White Says Cat Zingano “Out For a While”
By FCF Staff
Not long ago, it was believed Cat Zingano could be ready to return this summer, but now it looks as though the bantamweight contender’s next fight is still on hold.
Following the TUF Nations Finale last night Quebec City, UFC President Dana White relayed that Zingano will not be fighting anytime soon.
“Cat’s out for a while,” White said at the post-fight presser. “Obviously everybody knows what happened with her knee, and the other tragedy that happened in her life. She’s got a lot of stuff to deal with, mentally, physically, emotionally, before she can start training and come back and fight again.”
Zingano secured a title shot last April, by stopping Miesha Tate at the TUF 17 Finale, but the 31 year-old fighter tore her ACL not long after. This past January, Zingano’s husband Mauricio committed suicide, which is the “tragedy” White was referring to.
UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey has been booked to fight Alexis Davis, July 5th at UFC 175.
