Victory Fighting Championship Announces Two Title Fights For Dec. 16

By Press Release

Victory Fighting Championship is set for an explosive ending to the 2017 season as a pair of title fights top the card for VFC 59.

The event – Victory FC’s first major showcase under its new ownership of Alliance MMA – will feature fan favorite bantamweight champion Raufeon “Supa” Stots in the main event as he puts his belt on the line for the first time in a clash with Hawaiian sensation Arnold Berdon. Also on the marquee for VFC 59 is battle for the welterweight title as new champion Yuri Villefort squares off against challenger Victor “Superman” Moreno.

These two bouts will headline VFC 59 slated for on Saturday, December 16th at Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska, and airing live on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. PT.

Stots vs. Berdon – VFC Bantamweight Title

With a bell-to-bell dominant performance at VFC 56, Stots claimed the VFC bantamweight title when he defeated then two-division champion Rob Emerson via unanimous decision back in April. Stots upped his perfect record inside in the famed VFC square cage to 5-0 with a solid performance that earned judges’ scores of 50-45, 50-45, and 49-46. The 28-year-old native of Houston, Texas, who now fights out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, put himself in title contention with a career-propelling victory over veteran Jeff Curran.

Across from Stots will be Berdon, who will ride in on a three-fight winning streak that includes both of his previous VFC appearances. The 26-year-old from Waianae, Hawaii, made a terrific first impression on the organization at VFC 54 as he scored a 21-second knockout against Terrence Howard. He followed that up with a unanimous decision over Johnnie Roades at VFC 57 this past May.

Villefort vs. Moreno – VFC Welterweight Title

Brazilian standout Villefort played the role of spoiler at VFC 56 as he was in control throughout and took the welterweight title from newly crowned champion and home-town hero Kassius Holdorf. The 26-year-old, who now fights out of Boca Raton, Florida, is 3-0 inside the VFC square cage, highlighted by a decision win over Cody Carrillo and a first-round knockout via knee strikes against Kenneth Glenn. A two-time UFC competitor, Villefort has finished his opponents in seven of his 10 career victories.

Moreno, who fights out of Des Moines, Iowa, has won seven of his last nine outings with six of those wins coming by first-round knockout. The hard-punching veteran has finished opponents in 32 of his 37 career wins, including 19 by knockout. This fight will be Moreno’s eighth appearance in the VFC and it is his second crack at the VFC welterweight title after falling short against Jason Jackson in February 2016. Moreno has faced a number of notables of the course of his 14-year career, such names as Jeremy Horn, Anthony Smith, Jay Hieron, and Chris Camozzi.

The remainder of the VFC 59 main card will be unveiled soon.
