Alexander Gustafsson Wants Jon Jones Next in Wake of Injury: “It Was My Fight to Begin With”

By FCF Staff

It hasn’t taken Alexander Gustafsson to weigh-in on the news that Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier will now fight on January 3rd, and the light-heavyweight contender doesn’t seem happy about it.

Gustafsson was originally set to fight the champion Jones at UFC 178 on September 27th, but a knee injury forced the Swedish fighter to withdraw. Cormier was booked as a replacement, but on Tuesday it was revealed that Jones has also injured his knee, and that the fight has been moved to UFC 182.

In a follow up post on his Facebook account, Gustafsson had this to say about the situation:

After Gustafsson was forced to withdraw from his rematch with Jones, the fighter relayed that he won’t be sidelined long with the injury. The fighter is expected to face the winner of Jones-Cormier.
