By FCF Staff
Although Jeff Monson reported to the MMA world via his Twitter account that he will be Fedor Emelianenko’s next opponent, the heavyweight bout is not official just yet. Sources close to M-1 Global have told FCF that although the fight is indeed likely, a few hurdles remain before the promotion confirms all the details regarding the bout.
In addition, while Monson ‘tweeted’ November 12th as the date for the fight, sources have informed FCF that no date has been set yet, although the card will likely take place sometime in November. Moscow will likely be the host city, however, no venue has yet been determined.
Following Emelianenko’s July 30th, Strikeforce loss to Dan Henderson, the fighter and his management group announced that the former Pride champion was not retiring and that his next bout would take place in Europe, under the M-1 Global banner.
The 34 year-old Emelianenko has lost three straight fights, after going undefeated from 2001 through June, 2010.
