Dana White Confirms UFC’s Targeting Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone
By FCF Staff
Recently it was reported that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is the front-runner to be Conor McGregor’s next opponent, and UFC President Dana White’s confirmed the promotion is targeting that match-up.
After McGregor recently said that he’s going to fight on the UFC’s January 18th card, it was reported that Cerrone was the front-runner as the star’s opponent. While speaking to TMZ more recently, White said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):
“We have nothing done, nothing is even close to being done, so I hate to even talk about this stuff and say it, because it might not happen. It might happen, but we’re looking at ‘Cowboy’,” White said.
“No. 3 vs. No. 5, Jan. 18 at the T-Mobile (Arena) in Las Vegas.”
Cerrone is coming off a stoppage loss to lightweight contender Justin Gaethje in September, while McGregor hasn’t fought since last October, when he was submitted by champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
