Dana White Hopes to Lock up Conor McGregor’s Terms For Floyd Mayweather Bout This Weekend

It sounds like talks with Conor McGregor are progressing, in terms of a bout with Floyd Mayweather, but Dana White says the deadline’s approaching to reach a deal.

In recent weeks, White has said he believes there’s so much money to be made, that as a result, a fight between McGregor and Mayweather is bound to happen. But, as May nears its midway point, no deal’s been announced.

Recently White was a guest on The Jime Rome Show, and the UFC President had this to say about the all-star bout’s negotiations (quote via MMA Mania):

“I plan on having this thing locked up by this Sunday and then moving on to Team Mayweather and start to negotiate with them,” White said, while referring to McGregor’s team. “If we really do get it done in that time frame, then this thing could possibly happen. Again, I still have to go negotiate with them. There’s no guarantee that we’re going to come to a deal.”’

“I think they are pretty good,” White relayed when asked how talks with McGregor’s camp are going. “Hopefully Monday I’m going to sit down and negotiate with Team Mayweather. I just can’t keep messing with this thing, I have to run my business and I have to focus on all the other things that are going on around here.”

After it was announced last weekend that “Canelo” Alvarez will fight Gennady Golovkin on September 16th, White reported that they were targeting that date for the McGregor – Mayweather bout.
