Although the UFC has now had four events postponed due to the coronavirus, and it’s upcoming cards are also on hold, Dana White says the company will still promote 42 events this year.

On Thursday it was announced that UFC 249 will not take place on April 18th as planned, after the promotion’s broadcasting partner, ESPN, requested the UFC postpone the card. The UFC’s statement also noted that “subsequent bouts” are also on hold, until further notice.

But, while talking with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, White said the UFC still plans to hold 42 events this year, as planned. White also stated (quotes via MMA Fighting).

“All my fighters that are nervous and freaking out – don’t be,” White said. “Don’t be worried about the money. It’s coming. We’re going to hold our schedule. All these fights are still going to happen.”

In addition, White insisted that the UFC’s plans to host cards on a private island are proceeding.

“Fight Island is real,” White said. “Fight Island is a real thing. It’s really happening. The infrastructure is being built right now on the island.

“We’re getting ready for Fight Island. Fight Island’s where it’s all going to happen.”

The UFC’s last card took place on March 14th in Brasilia, Brazil.
