Recently Jon Jones has claimed he’s vacating the UFC’s light-heavyweight title, and “Bones” has proposed Jan Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes should battle for the bout. But, Glover Teixeira has other ideas for how the title shot picture should play out.

In recent weeks, Jones has been feuding with the UFC over his contract, and as a result, he’s claimed he’s dropping the light-heavyweight title. In addition, Jones has said Reyes and Blachowicz should fight for the vacated belt.

While talking to MMA Junkie recently about the situation, however, Teixeira had this to say.

“In my opinion, I’m looking forward to fighting for the title,” Teixeira said. “I want to fight Jan Blachowicz because we’re both coming from – I mean, I come from four wins in a row, I believe he coming from four, five wins in a row something like that and who am I to say who’s going to fight next?”

The 40-year-old, perennial contender, also said this.

“Those guys had their chance,” Teixeira said. “They went in there, they fought for the title and they lost and they gotta come back and we fight to get back in there again. You don’t get rematches for a title unless you’re the champion.”

“I think me and Blachowicz, we should fight and those guys have to fight to get wins, maybe Thiago and Reyes have to fight to see who’s gonna win and who’s gonna fight for the title next.”

Teixeira (31-7) is coming off a stoppage win over Anthony Smith in May, and the dangerous fighter has gone 7-3 in his last 10 bouts.
