Khabib Nurmagomedov Says He’ll be Ready to “Smash” Opponents by July
By FCF Staff
Since Khabib Nurmagomedov’s latest booking to fight Tony Ferguson fell through last month, the belief has been that the UFC’s lightweight champ wouldn’t fight again until September. But, now Nurmagomedov’s reporting he’ll be ready to fight in July.
Nurmagomedov was supposed to face Ferguson on April 18th. But, the champion was ultimately stranded in Russia due to a coronavirus travel ban. Now the undefeated fighter has begun observing Ramadan.
Since then, Nurmagomedov has hinted at a September return.
But, while responding to an Instagram video featuring Chael Sonnen discussing the lightweight title picture, Nurmagomedov posted this (quote via MMA Fighting).
“I can fight anytime, Ramadan finish 23 may. July I’m gonna be ready. Stop talking about me, this is coronatime, when Khabibtime come I smash all of them.”
The 31-year-old Nurmagomedov (28-0) is coming off a submission win over Dustin Poirier in September.
