Following Conor McGregor’s recent tweet, in which he claimed he’s fighting Manny Pacquiao next, their respective manager has confirmed talks for the bout are underway.

On Friday, the former UFC champ tweed out that he’s going to face the boxing star next. McGregor also said the bout would take place in the Middle East.

Both of the stars are managed by Audie Attar, who has since reported to ESPN that talks for the fight are ongoing. Attar also told ESPN that the UFC is on board with the planned fight, and that if it is signed, it will take place in late 2020 or early 2021.

A representative for Pacquiao, Jayke Joson, also issued this statement to ESPN.

“For the sake of all the Filipino Covid-19 victims, Senator Manny Pacquiao will be fighting UFC superstar Conor McGregor next year,” Joson said. “The huge portion of his earnings will proceed to those who are affected nationwide by the pandemic.”

Recently UFC President Dana White also told BT Sport that he could be making an announcement soon, regarding a boxing card.

McGregor returned to the Octagon this past January and quickly stopped Donald Cerrone. But, in June, the star announced he was retiring. At the time, McGregor claimed MMA didn’t excite him anymore and he also expressed frustration about the fact his next bout hadn’t been signed.
