Alexander Gustafsson may be set on waiting for another shot at the UFC light-heavyweight belt, but Anthony Johnson has started to pressure the contender to fight him first.

Recently, Johnson expressed an interest in fighting Ryan Bader next, and then Gustafsson. Now, however, Johnson appears to be setting his sights on fighting “The Mauler” sooner than later.

“Rumble” posted the following call-out recently on Facebook:

@AlexTheMauler I respect you as a fighter but this is business. @danawhite said our fight makes sense. There’s nobody left for us to fight plus the fans are begging for us to fight so let’s give the fans what they wanna see!

Gustafsson was set to rematch Jon Jones at UFC 178 next month, but a knee injury forced him to withdraw. Jones was subsequently booked to fight Daniel Cormier, but a knee injury to the champion, postponed the bout until January.

Since the delay, Gustafsson and his camp have made it clear they intend to wait for a title shot. UFC President Dana White has relayed that the promotion will likely ask Gustafsson to fight in the interim, and that a fight with Johnson would make sense.

Johnson is currently ranked #4 in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division while Gustafsson is positioned at #1.
