Alistair Overeem may be scheduled to fight Ben Rothwell this Friday at UFC Fight Night 50, but the heavyweight’s war of words with former teammate Anthony Johnson is making headlines.

After news surfaced that Jon Jones had injured his knee while training with Overeem, Johnson claimed that the heavyweight hurt sparring partners when he was with the Blackzilians. The UFC vet told Fighters Only Magazine that Overeem would do so “accidentally on purpose.” Johnson even went a step further and said he’d be interested in facing Overeem down the road.

In a follow up interview with MMA Junkie.com, Overeem argued that Johnson’s comments stemmed from jealousy, before blasting the latter for not approaching him when they were teammates.

After reading Overeem’s statements, Johnson has posted the following response on Twitter.

Overeem’s bout with Rothwell will be hosted by the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut.

Johnson, who is coming off a quick, stoppage win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, has been campaigning for a fight with Alexander Gustafsson.
