Mike Goldberg Disappointed He’s Had “no Contact” With Dana White Since UFC Exit

After calling his final UFC card last month, Mike Goldberg says he hasn’t heard from the promotion’s president Dana White, whom he worked with for approximately 15 years.

In December, White announced that Goldberg would not be returning to the UFC in 2017. During Goldberg’s final call at UFC 207, there was no formal recognition that it was going to be his last.

Recently Goldberg appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and the veteran broadcaster opened up about what’s transpired in recent weeks. According to Goldberg, he was shocked by the news that the UFC would not be renewing his contract in 2017. Goldberg says he wasn’t provided a reason for the company’s decision. But since the UFC’s new ownership has laid off multiple employees in recent months, he also noted that a reason for their decision would not have made him feel better or worse.

Goldberg was also asked if he’s heard from White, and the broadcast proceeded to say the following (quote via MMA Fighting):

“No conversations, no contact. Nothing, really,” Goldberg said. “Nothing. Which was surprising. Disappointing, certainly. But nothing was said, and I’ve got to live with that. At the end of the day, what matters to me is my family, my children. But no, to answer your question directly, there was no conversation. Nothing at all.”

When Goldberg was asked specifically he was surprised by this, the broadcaster said he didn’t think there was a way to answer the question “without it being somewhat controversial or somewhat angry, so I’ll leave that one alone.” But he did add that it was a “bummer, after noting that he continues to “love” the UFC brand.
