Report: Anthony Pettis Believes Conor McGregor Got in Jose Aldo’s Head Prior to UFC 194

Aldo and McGregor

By FCF Staff

Jose Aldo has denied that Conor McGregor’s verbal jabs got to him prior to his shocking, KO loss to the latter at UFC 194, but Anthony Pettis doesn’t agree.

Aldo was floored by McGregor only moments into their highly anticipated bout, as he charged in and threw a hook. Aldo’s punch landed, but McGregor’s landed harder and flush to the chin, and the fight was over in just 13 seconds.

Recently Aldo claimed he was “the same as always” when he went to fight McGregor, but Pettis doesn’t see it that way. While speaking to MMA Fighting.com, Pettis had this to say about Saturday’s bout.

“I think Conor got in his head,” Pettis said. “Aldo’s not known for coming out there trying to throw bombs the way he did. Conor got in his head. He wanted to put his hands on him and he got to hit him, but one guy went down and one guy didn’t.”

Aldo has also called for an immediate rematch with McGregor. But it looks as though the new champion will fight either Frankie Edgar next, or the winner of Saturday’s lightweight title fight between champion Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone.

Pettis, meanwhile, is scheduled to fight Eddie Alvarez on January 17th.
