Although nothing is signed yet, UFC President Dana White is reporting that a bout between bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey and fellow star Gina Carano could take place later this year.

Recently there were reports that talks between the UFC and Carano had stalled, but White relayed in Dublin today that a deal between the two camps is close.

According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, the UFC President says that Carano could be signed by “next week”, and that she could fight Rousey in December.

The fighter, turned actress, hasn’t competed in MMA since 2009, when Carano was stopped by Cris “Cyborg” while fighting for Strikeforce.

White reportedly defended the decision to give Carano an immediate title shot, by noting that Rousey has “been very good to us”, and that the champion wants the bout.

Rousey is currently recovering from a hand injury she sustained during her 16 second, stoppage win over Alexis Davis at UFC 175.
