Report: Jake Ellenberger-Tarec Saffiedine Targeted for UFC’s Singapore Debut
By FCF Staff
The Ultimate Fighting Championship relayed this past summer that it will hold its first event in Singapore on January 4th, and now a report has surfaced stating that Jake Ellenberger will fight Tarec Saffiedine at the card.
Although the UFC has not made any official announcement regarding the bout, MMA Junkie is reporting that sources have confirmed the two welterweights have verbally agreed to fight. The venue for the January 4th card also hasn’t been announced.
Ellenberger (29-7) will be looking to get back on track after he dropped a disappointing unanimous decision loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC on FOX 8 in July. In March, Ellenberger knocked out Nate Marquardt in the opening round at UFC 158.
The 28 year-old, welterweight contender is 3-2 in his last five bouts.
Saffiedine (14-3) hasn’t fought since January when he outscored Marquardt for the decision win, and secured Strikeforce’s welterweight championship in the promotion’s final event.
The 27 year-old, who was supposed to fight Robbie Lawler in at UFC on FOX 8 but couldn’t due to injury, is 4-1 in his last five fights.
