Stipe Miocic is the latest UFC fighter to speak out on compensation issues, as the heavyweight champ’s upset about what he was paid for his UFC 203 win over Alistair Overeem.

Miocic took on the former Strikeforce and DREAM champion in September, and KO’d Overeem in the opening round. The UFC elected to hold the card in Miocic’s hometown of Cleveland, after he took out Fabricio Werdum in May to become champion.

The 34 year-old appeared on “The MMA Hour” on Monday, and Miocic revealed that the UFC wants him to fight in May. Miocic said he’s willing to fight anyone that month, but he was also critical of the UFC for what they paid Overeem at UFC 203. After the event it was reported that Overeem made $800,000 – not including any pay-per-view revenue- and that Miocic made $600,000.

“I just felt like I was kinda crapped on a little bit,” Miocic said. “I try to do things right and work with them, and they just didn’t give me a great deal. That’s my own fault…”

“You’re making money off me in my hometown, and you’re giving the man that’s a challenger who’s never won the title in the UFC, you’re giving him more money?

“It definitely should change. But the fact that my challenger made more money than me in my last fight was just kind of a slap in the face.”

Miocic added that his manager is trying to negotiate a new deal with the UFC, and the situation is a “real mess”.
