After testing positive for the steroid desoxymethyltestosterone in January, Hector Lombard has reportedly been suspended for one by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

In addition, the welterweight’s unanimous decision win over Josh Burkman at UFC 182 on January 3rd, has been overturned to a no contest.

According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, during today’s hearing with the Nevada Commission, Lombard said he took a supplement which he was told was “made from plants.” The 37 year-old apologized for failing the drug test and added:

“I relied on people I trusted to provide me with the correct information. I take full responsibility for not getting all information on this product. I am truly embarrassed and sorry for my actions. This will never happen again. As a fighter, I do not have many fights left in my career. I hope I can use this time to provide younger fighters with information on who they can trust.”

Lombard was also fined for his $53,000 winning purse, as well as 33% of his show money (which was $53K).

Following Lombard’s win in January he was initially scheduled to face Rory MacDonald in April, but he was pulled from the bout after news of his drug test surfaced. Now MacDonald is set to face welterweight champ Robbie Lawler at UFC 189 on July 11th.
