Wanderlei Silva Blasts UFC For Firing “Stitch” Duran, Claims Promotion Has Fixed Fights

It’s been a couple days now since it was revealed that iconic cutman “Stitch” Duran has been fired by the UFC, and now Wanderlei Silva is the latest figure to blast the promotion for doing so.

Duran was let go after he spoke out about the UFC’s uniform deal with Reebok, which prevents cutman from having sponsors, and does not compensate them either. The news angered many fans and observers, and in Facebook post from Silva, not only did he criticize the UFC’s move, he accused the organization of fixing fights.

Here is what the former PRIDE champ had to say (translation via MMA Junkie):

“They fired him,” Silva said. “That’s right. They fired ‘Stitch’ for standing against this theft being perpetrated on the athletes. So I wonder, ‘why don’t they fire me?’ I already said I do not want to, nor will I work any more for to this promotion. And they won’t dismiss me. That’s what happens to those who speak the truth in this company; they’re driven out. They have no respect for anyone. I’ve made it very clear to you all that I will never again fight for this promotion, the U.F. Circus. Fixed fights – and I can prove it! I haven’t yet dropped the bomb. I haven’t said everything I know!”

The criticisms are just the latest that Silva has brought against the UFC in recent months, following his well documented, fall-out with the promotion last year.
