As Conor McGregor gets set to battle Dustin Poirier for a second time at UFC 257 this Saturday, it’s being reported that the decorated fighter is being sued.

The former UFC champ, who hasn’t fought since January, 2020, has had a lawsuit filed against him, according to a report from the New York Times.

According to the report, the suit has been brought against McGregor by a woman who accused him of raping her in 2018.

The report also states that Irish police and prosecutors did not file any charges against McGregor, after investing the allegations for over one year.

The New York Times story also includes this quote:

Karen J. Kessler, a spokeswoman for McGregor, one of the biggest draws in mixed martial arts, said in a statement that the allegations against McGregor were “categorically rejected” and that McGregor is “confident that justice will prevail” in the civil case.

The report also states that the “suit seeks a sum of 1,475,110 to 1,759,850 euros, or about $1.79 million to $2.13 million.”

The 32-year-old McGregor has been arrested in the past.

In 2018, the star was arrested after throwing a dolly at the fighter bus prior to UFC 223. In 2019, the former champ was arrested after he smashed the cell phone of a man in Florida, and he was charged later that year for punching an elderly man in a Dublin pub.

In September,  McGregor was reportedly questioned about an attempt sexual assault allegation. The Irish fighter’s team denied the allegations.

Poirier – McGregor 2 will headline UFC 257, which will take place in Abu Dhabi.
