Rumors and speculation continues as to whether Conor McGregor will fight Eddie Alvarez next, despite the fact that Dana White recently tweeted that the latter will face Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Alvarez has been campaigning for a bout with McGregor for sometime, and the latter has also said that he’s not interested in facing Jose Aldo next. As a result, there’s been widespread speculation that the UFC might grant McGregor a bout with the lightweight champ Alvarez, on November 12th,

White, however, recently relayed that Nurmagomedov is next for Alvarez. According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, “UFC Tonight” reported that McGregor has a leg injury, and is not eligible to compete in the short term future. But sources have told the outlet that McGregor is in fact healthy, and that he is only interested in fighting Alvarez.

Following McGregor’s decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 201, White said the Irish star needs to defend his featherweight title against Aldo next, or vacate it.

MMA Junkie.com is also reporting that Megan Olivi relayed on the “UFC Tonight” that Alvarez has missed the contract deadline to fight Nurmagomedov at UFC 205. As a result, the UFC is hoping to sign that bout for UFC 206 on December 10th, which will take place in Toronto.

So, as it stands right now, it appears as though neither Alvarez or McGregor will be competing at UFC 205.
