UFC newcomer Holly Holm has already said she’d prefer to fight one time before receiving a title shot, and the undefeated bantamweight evidently doesn’t have an issue if Gina Carano faces champion Ronda Rousey first.

Recently, UFC President Dana White stated that the promotion is close to signing Carano, and that the star could face Rousey in December. The news has been criticized by some, who point out Carano hasn’t fought since 2009.

In a recent interview with ESPN.com, Holm was asked to weigh-in on the possibility of Carano receiving an immediate title shot. Here is what the decorated boxer had to say:

“Carano has been on the big show before, so she can handle the pressure. There are a lot of girls who have been working hard for a shot who might deserve it a little more than someone who has been out that long, but Carano has put a lot of time in before. She’s earned her spot in certain ways. Who am I to say Carano is undeserving of an opportunity? I’ll let the promoter make those decisions.”

Holm, meanwhile, has yet to have her UFC debut bout confirmed. Since transitioning into MMA, the Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter has gone 7-0.
