Report: Jake Ellenberger Says “Too Many People in my Ear” Has Caused Distractions For Welterweight

After going 1-4 in his last 5 fights, Jake Ellenberger has decided to enlist the help of fewer people, as he gets set to fight Tarec Saffiedine in January…

Ellenberger is booked to fight the former Strikeforce champ at UFC on FOX 18, which will take place on January 30th. Recently Ellenberger spoke to MMA Junkie.com and while doing so, he explained why he’s decided to restrict his camp to Kings MMA and the guidance of Rafael Cordeiro. In recent months, Ellenberger has also spent time training at the Glendale Fighting Club.

“I’ve had to simplify a lot of things,” Ellenberger said. “One of the problems I’ve run into in the past is having too many people in my ear – too much advice. It creates distractions. So I’ve really been able to cut a lot of nonsense out of my training. The fewer people I work with, the better. It’s been more organized and more structured for me.”

The 30 year-old fighter is coming off a knockout loss to Stephen Thompson in July, after he submitted Josh Kosheck in February. Saffiedine, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since October, 2014, when he was stopped by Rory MacDonald.
