There has been no shortage of people who have expressed their disbelief and anger regarding the Nevada Commission’s decision to suspend Nick Diaz for five years, and now Ronda Rousey has added her voice to theirs.

On Monday, the Nevada Commission announced that it was suspending Diaz for five years, after he tested positive for marijuana this past January. It marked the third time Diaz has tested positive for marijuana. The former Strikeforce champ is medically licensed to use the drug in his home state of California.

Rousey, who has trained with Diaz in the past, attended a press conference today in Australia, to promote her November 15th bout with Holly Holm. During the presser, the bantamweight champ had this to say about Diaz’s suspension (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“I’m sorry; I know no one asked me anything, but I have to say something,” Rousey said. “It’s so not right for (Diaz) to be suspended five years for marijuana. I’m against them testing for any weed at all. It’s not a performance-enhancing drug. It has nothing to do with athletic competition, and it’s only tested for political reasons so they say, ‘Oh, it’s only for your safety so you’re not hurting yourself when you’re out there.’ So why don’t they test for all the other things that could possibly hurt us that we could be under the influence of while we’re out there?”

If Diaz cannot successfully appeal the decision, he will be 37 years old before he can fight again.
