The UFC has announced that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has also been pulled from next week’s UFC 161 card, as a result of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira’s withdrawal due to injury, who the light-heavyweight was set to fight. The event, which will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 15th, will proceed with 11 bouts.

Brazilian publication Globo.com is reporting that the UFC attempted to book Chael Sonnen vs. Rua as a last minute replacement, however, visa issues for Sonnen prevented the fight from happening. As a result, that light-heavyweight fight is being planned for the upcoming, August 17th, UFC on FOX Sports 1 card in Boston.

Although the UFC has not announced the match-up, Rua posted the following comment via his Twitter account.

I would like to tell.my fans that unfortunately the fight vs Chael won’t happen next week. Sorry everyone we try as much we could.August 17.

Nogueira had to withdraw from UFC 161 due to a reported back injury. Recently bantamweight interim champ Renan Barao also had to pull out of the event due to torn ligaments in his foot, and challenger Eddie Wineland was removed from the card.
