It’s been over two years since Thomas Almeida last fought, but the Brazilian bantamweight is reporting he’ll be returning to the Octagon soon.

Almeida hasn’t fought since January, 2018, when he lost via stoppage to Rob Font. The now 28-year-old fighter had an eye issue that required surgery and recently Almeida told MMA Fighting this:

“Health comes first,” Almeida said. “An athlete must know how to deal with this. Highs and lows, being active or inactive. I needed that time off to rest, and I used that to recover from other injuries as well. I’m ready now, so let’s go for it.”

“I went to Los Angeles to get cleared by the doctor, and now I’m cleared. That’s extra motivation for me,” Almeida said. “I’m gonna focus now and wait for the UFC to book my next fight. I got wood to burn. I already spoke with my manager and he’s on it to set something up.”

Almeida (21-3) went 4-0 to begin his UFC run, but since then the heavy handed fighter has gone 1-3.
