On paper, Saturday’s tilt between Takanori Gomi and Isaac Vallie-Flagg had “Fight of the Night” potential, and the lightweights ended up delivering just that at UFC 172.

Gomi and Vallie-Flagg picked up the honor for the bloody slugfest, which saw Gomi emerge with the unanimous decision win. Each man took home an extra $50,000 for the award.

A “Performance of the Night”, and $50K, went to Joseph Benavidez, for his first round, submission win over Tim Elliott. Benavidez used a highlight reel, guillotine choke from the mount to finish the fight.

And the other “POTN” went to Chris Beal, for his jaw dropping, flying knee knockout of Patrick Williams.

UFC 172 was hosted by the Baltimore Arena.
