Pettis

By FCF Staff

Just over a month before Anthony Pettis was scheduled to defend the lightweight title versus Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 9, the promotion has announced that the bout has been postponed, due to the champion being injured. As a result, a  featherweight fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez has been moved from the November 30th, TUF 18 Finale card to headline UFC on FOX 9, December 14th.

As a result of the change, a lightweight fight featuring Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz has been moved into the main event position for the TUF 18 Finale. According to the UFC’s official announcement, the match-up will remain a three round fight.

No details regarding the extent of Pettis’s injury was disclosed.

UFC on FOX 9 will be hosted by Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena and the TUF 18 Finale will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
