Dana White Bottles Talk of Kamaru Usman Fighting Conor McGregor Next
By FCF Staff
Recently Kamaru Usman has been campaigning for a bout with Conor McGregor, since a fight with Jorge Masvidal has yet to be signed. But, more recently, UFC President Dana White reported McGregor will not be next to challenge the welterweight champ.
For a while now, the consensus has been that Masvidal would fight Usman next. But, both men have claimed the other is responsible for the fight not materializing. Masvidal has claimed Usman’s asking for too much money, and the champ’s accused “Gamebred” of avoiding the fight.
As a result, Usman and his team have been pushing for a fight with McGregor.
But, while talking to ESPN recently, White had this to say about the possibility of Usman vs. McGregor (quote via MMA Fighting).
“Listen, the next title fight for [Kamaru] Usman is going to be one of these guys — it’s gonna be Colby [Covington], [Jorge] Masvidal, [Leon] Edwards,” White said. “It’s going to be one of those guys. It’s not gonna be Conor McGregor.”
Usman is coming off a stoppage win over rival Colby Covington in December. McGregor, meanwhile, quickly stopped Donald Cerrone in his last outing, which took place in January.
