Dana White Responds to Jon Jones’ Claim He’s Vacating LHW Title
By FCF Staff
Following Jon Jones’ claim he’s vacating the UFC’s light-heavyweight title, as tensions with the promotion continue to escalate, Dana White has released a statement.
Since talks for a proposed bout between Francis Ngannou and Jones quickly came to a halt, the light-heavyweight champ has been trading verbal jabs with White. More recently, Jones said he’s going to vacate the light-heavyweight title and may return in 2021 to fight Israel Adesanya, if the promotion’s willing to pay him more.
In response to Jones’ claim, White shared out this statement (quote via MMA Fighting).
“Jon Jones is one of the greatest to ever do it,” White said. “The decision he wants to make regarding his career is up to him.
“The reality is that he’s made enough money from fighting that he’s now in the position to retire and never work again in his life.”
The 32-year-old Jones (26-1, 1 NC) is coming off a controversial decision win over Dominick Reyes in February.
