Georges St-Pierre Says Lawyer Has “Very Strong Evidence” He’s a Free Agent

Although both UFC President Dana White and Georges St-Pierre have reported recently they’re on better terms, the latter still believes he’s no longer under contract with the promotion.
In October, St-Pierre reported that his lawyer James Quinn had terminated his UFC contract, after the promotion failed to meet their deadline for a bout offer. Since then, however, St-Pierre and White have talked, and both parties reported the discussion was productive.
St-Pierre was on a media call this week to announce the creation of the MMA Athletes Association, however, and during it, the former welterweight champ said this (quote via MMA Fighting):
“My lawyer (James Quinn) — he’s the best in this kind of situation — he told me I’m a free agent,” St-Pierre said. “So I am a free agent from my side of the situation. We have very strong evidence that I’m a free agent. Very confident. That’s all I can say.”
The Canadian fighter hasn’t fought now since 2013, when he announced he was taking a hiatus from fighting, after defeating Johny Hendricks.
