Following the news that Alistair Overeem will no longer fight Rico Verhoeven at GLORY’s Collision 3, the promotion has announced that another kickboxing legend will make his return at the event, Gokhan Saki.
Recently GLORY confirmed that the 37-year-old Saki will fight at the October 23rd card, against an opponent who has yet to be determined.
“We are proud to announce that Gokhan Saki returns to the GLORY ring and will be in action October 23rd at GLORY Collision 3 at the GelreDome in Arnhem, Holland,” GLORY Co-Founder Scott Rudman was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion.
“Saki brings competitive spirit, striking skills, and explosiveness to kickboxing and stand-up combat like few others. His talent is among the elite in the world of combat sports. He has been training with some of our top fighters recently, and our organization is delighted to have him on the Collision 3 card and to have GLORY fans around the world be able to see him in action again. It’s time for GLORY.”
Saki, who carries a record of 83- 12, with 59 knockouts in kickboxing, hasn’t fought in a kickboxing match since 2017. The feared striker joined the UFC in late 2017 and knocked out Henrique da Silva, but in his second UFC bout the following year, he was stopped by Khalil Rountree Jr.
