Report: Complaint Filed Against Roy Nelson, Following UFC FN 96 Incident
By FCF Staff
Roy Nelson is reportedly facing disciplinary action for his UFC Fight Night 96 incident with “Big” John McCarthy, as an official complain has reportedly been filed against the heavyweight fighter.
Immediately after Nelson’s September 24th bout with Antonio Silva was stopped, the veteran lightly kicked McCarthy in the back, who was officiating the contest. Nelson argued afterwards that McCarthy had stopped the contest too late, and as a result, Silva had taken unnecessary punches. The fight took place in Brasilia, Brazil.
According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, an attorney has filed an official complaint regarding the incident, with the The Superior Justice Court of MMA (STJDMMA). As a result, Nelson could be charged with assaulting a referee, which could lead to a $30,000 fine, and six-month to two-year suspension. The fighter could also be charged with unethical behaviour, which could result in a fine up to $10,000, and a 30-day to six-month suspension.
