Report: Jon Jones Calls on UFC to Release Him
By FCF Staff
Jon Jones feuded with the UFC last year, over financial terms to secure a fight with Francis Ngannou, and it looks like it’s happening again.
Following Ngannou’s championship, KO win over Stipe Miocic on Saturday, Jones was quick to call for a fight with the heavyweight. But, the former light heavyweight champ also made it clear he wants a larger payday for the bout.
It seems, however, that contract talks to make Ngannou – Jones a reality, could already be hitting serious snags. Jones has reportedly posted the following tweets, to only then, delete them (comments via MMA Junkie).
“Please just cut me already.”
“You would rather have me around and treat me like sh*t. I swear the UFC industry has been nothing but depressing for me. … I feel like my wings are being clipped.”
“Just f*cking let me go. What type of weird sh*t is this, obviously the boss hates me. Let me take my business elsewhere.”
When Jones began campaigning for a fight with Ngannou last year, UFC President Dana White claimed ‘Bones’ was asking for a purse similar to what boxing star, Deontay Wilder makes. Jones denied that was the case.
The 33-year-old Jones (26-1) hasn’t fought since February, 2020, when he recorded a split decision win over Dominick Reyes.
