Report: Patricio “Pitbull” Signs With GFL
By FCF Staff
Following his release from the PFL, there was extensive speculation as to whether Patricio “Pitbull” Freire could be UFC bound. But, it’s being reported the decorated fighter has signed with the new, Global Fight League.
Freire (36-7) was recently granted his release by the PFL, after the former Bellator champ repeatedly criticized the organization for not booking him for more fights. Due to the 37-year-old’s abilities and resume, many wondered if the UFC would sign Freire.
But, according to a report from MMA Fighting, the GFL has signed “Pitbull” and he will be available in the league’s draft this Friday.
The GFL is a new team based organization that is expected to start holding cards this year. According to the company’s announcement in December, former UFC champs like Tyron Woodley, Fabricio Werdum, Anthony Pettis, Junior dos Santos, Luke Rockhold, Andrei Arlovski, Frank Mir, and Benson Henderson have all signed with the league.
