Tyron Woodley Says He’s Moving to 185 to Face Georges St-Pierre
By FCF Staff
Prior to UFC 217, Tyron Woodley said he wanted to face the winner of Saturday’s bout between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre, and the welterweight champ has repeated that desire, following the event.
St-Pierre returned to the Octagon for the first time since 2013 on Saturday, and laid claim to the middleweight title, by choking Bisping out in round three. During the post-fight, FS 1 show, Woodley had this to say about GSP, and the latter’s performance (quotes via FS 1 press release):
“Georges should have been fighting me here at MSG – so I’m going up to middleweight to challenge him for the belt.”
“He shut down the offense of Bisping, because Bisping was worried about the takedown. If you are on your back against GSP, you’re losing the fight.”
After Saturday’s event, UFC President Dana White said that interim middleweight champ, Robert Whittaker, will be St-Pierre’s next opponent.
