After an attempt to hold cards at the Tachi Palace Resort and Casino in California were halted, Dana White’s reporting that the UFC plans to host cards at the promotion’s Apex Facility for the time being.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, officials spoke out against the UFC’s plans to host cards on tribal lands in California, and ESPN asked the promotion to postpone those plans.

More recently, however, White announced the planned line-up for an event the UFC hopes to hold on May 9th. In addition, while talking to Variety, White said this.

“We built the Apex facility next door just in time to save the day from this pandemic,” White said via email, while referring to the Las Vegas facility. “Live fights will be produced out of there starting next month and for the foreseeable future.”

Nevada is currently under a stay-at-home order for non-essential businesses. But the Variety story states that the UFC expects those restrictions to be relaxed in May and the company will be able to hold events with no audience.

White has also repeatedly said that the UFC is working on setting up a facility on a private island. The plan would conceivably allow the promotion to hold bouts with fighters who may not be able to get into the U.S., on account of travel bans.
